Magpie Nest

Since childhood, I have always collected small objects that at first glance may be disregarded by most. These objects or pieces of larger things have always called to me and I keep them as tokens for myself. Collecting these objects also often bring up memories along with them which give them entirely new personal meaning to myself as an individual and artist. Using ceramics, a medium that will last forever, I can immortalize these objects and memories and give them newfound importance. My work explores what we as individuals assign meaning to and how that can widely vary depending on what we see as significant. As an avid collector of the insignificant, I want to create a space for my objects; a magpie’s nest for shiny things.
